Buddhist Movie Night at PIMC: "Samsara" (Sat., 1/19/19, 6:30pm)

Primary tabs

Please join us for another edition of Buddhist Movie Night at Portland Insight Meditation Community (PIMC). We'll be watching "Samsara" on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019.  The screening will begin at 6:30pm.

This is a chance to come together as a community, enjoy Buddhist/mindfulness-themed cinema, and discuss how the material relates to our understanding of the Buddha and the Dharma.

"Samsara" is a 2011 American non-narrative documentary film, directed by Ron Fricke.  Samsara was filmed over five years in 25 countries around the world. It was shot in 70 mm format and output to digital format. The film premiered at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival. The official website describes the film, exploring "the wonders of our world from the mundane to the miraculous, looking into the unfathomable reaches of humanity's spirituality and the human experience. Neither a traditional documentary nor a travelogue, Samsara takes the form of a nonverbal, guided meditation."

Mikki and Chanel will be hosting the movie night and leading the discussion afterward. It will be a very mellow, low key affair. Please come, bring a snack to share if you like, and enjoy.
