Embracing the Wounded Self - The Dharma of Real Life

Primary tabs

A series of 8 classes with Robert Beatty starting April 25th.

One aspect of the spiritual journey is the direct realization of our vast nature that is beyond birth/death, attachment and suffering. Profound liberating experiences arise from meditation. These are not the whole story, however, for we come to the journey with an experience of self that has psychological wounds, attachment injury, trauma, loss, social conditioning and deeply held beliefs.

To grow into spiritual maturity there is work to be done in the realms of healing the self, shadow, emotions and our relationships in the world.

We will be reading After the Ecstasy the Laundry by Jack Kornfield. The following is from the book.

Enlightenment does exist...unbounded freedom and joy, oneness with the divine... these experiences are more common than you know, and not far away. But even after achieving such realization we are faced with the day-to-day task of translating that freedom into our imperfect lives. We are faced with the laundry.

This eight session class series will provide you with an opportunity to reflect deeply on these realities with an illuminating book to read, group support, guided meditations, instruction and the opportunity to discuss what arises.
