LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The Portland Insight Meditation Community honors and recognizes that the place where we gather is ancestral land for many people including the Clackamas, Cowlitz, the seven tribes of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the twenty-seven bands of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians.

We respectfully acknowledge all Indigenous communities of the past, present and future. The original human inhabitants of this land were forced to leave for the benefit of colonists and settlers.

We acknowledge the systemic policies of genocide, relocation, and assimilation that still impact many Indigenous families today. We are grateful for their stewardship of these lands and acknowledge the benefit we continue to receive. We are committed to remain mindful of and make ongoing efforts to recognize their knowledge, creativity and resilience.
