“SABBE SANKHARA ANICCA"

- THE BUDDHA -

(TRANSLATION: ALL CONDITIONED PHENOMINA ARE IMPERMANENT)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THERE ARE THREE CENTRAL THEORIES IN BUDDHISM:

1. ANICCA (IMPERMANENCE): YOU WILL NEVER FIND ANYTHING IN THE UNIVERSE THAT HAS NOT BEEN IN CONSTANT CHANGE SINCE THE UNIVERSE BEGAN.

2. DUKKHA (UNSATISFACTORINESS): YOU WILL NEVER FIND A PLACE OF PERMANENT SATISFACTION.

3. ANATTA (NON-SELF): IF WE TRAIN THE MIND TO GET OUT OF FANTASY AND INTO DIRECT OBSERVATION, WE FIND THAT THERE IS NO SINGLE SELF.

THE PATH OF DIRECT REALIZATION LIES WITH TEST THESE HYPOTHESES.
